they usually come out of their shells. but if not, throw 'em in a 350 degree oven until they start to turn a little brown and take them out and rub them in a dish towel.

The easiest way is to purchase them already shelled! They're known by the name Pignolia Nuts and are pretty expensive, mostly because they're a real pain to shell! We used to collect them when I was a kid and we would crack their tiny shells with our teeth to get them open. Have fun!
