the key lock is worn out.. you could try some wd-40 in it.. or disasemble the door panel to see the problem.. renault r-10s are fun.

most likely the plastic retainer clip that holds the actuator rod in the door that goes from the outside key lock down to the door latch has broken so it is no longer holding that rod in place to make it do its job...
the reason it works on the inside is a different rod goes to the inside activation knob, lever or button to the shared pivot metal piece that actuated the lock mechanism at the door catch latch
