He has called me but very few times. I asked if he has a gf, and he said no that he is just shy around me. I've noticed that he does get nervous when we hang out, but eventually he gets comfortable and have a good time, on the phone we can talk a lot too but according to him he's not a phone guy. He says that texting is the way he talks to all his friends, and that he does use the phone but mostly they call him. I've told him i don't mind texting but to call me more often, he does it only that time i ask him to, and then goes back to the same old texts. Iv'e tried just blowing off his texts for weeks at a time and even then he would text me everyday. He says that he just feels he can talk to me better through texts. I dont know what this guy wants from me. I know he is shy, we had to meet through his friend because he had been wanting to meet me for a while and never had the courage to go up to me. He says i'm pretty, texts me about every detail going on, but he never calls. What's up?

I think from what you have told us that he seems genuine. I sometimes feel I communicate better through text (whether IM, email, or SMS), that I sometimes do in person.
I get shy very easy and even though others may not know it I may be really uncomfortable in some situations (especially around a female that I like, around girls that are friends, I am fine).
I feel that he may be shy, why not just call him instead. People put so much emphasis on who does the calling these days. If you are interested in him, you should also be calling, telephones work both ways, so use it. You don't have to talk long, sometimes just a "hey how are you doing, want to do something Friday?" is fine for a conversation and a good ice breaker.
Good luck!

I think the answer is pretty obvious. Here is a guy that went to a great lenght to have you as a girl friend but has told you plainly that the best way he can express himself is through text, which means that he is still not comfortable talking on phone because, he can't express himself very well through that medium.
The guy likes/loves you but has chosen a medium of communication and all is needed is for you to show understanding.
Probably you can devise a way of allowing him to do all the texting while you call him on phone and do all the talking so that nobody will feel left out.
Just show the poor guy some understanding and draw him out slowly ok. Good luck!

I find texting or emailing easier for forming my thoughts, dropping a quick note of a reminder or something that caught my attn that i wanted to share, or just being informal. However, you can't do it all the time and call it a relationship.
He may be talking to you, but you're not really having a conversation. It's nice to know what he's thinking about or what grabs his attention, just don't let him off the hook easily.
It's great that you're asking him to call you more often and going out... because he may text all his friends but you're trying to be more than one of his other friends, you want to be his gf!
A relationship is something you build upon to make you both better and no one said that it's easy. So if he's worth it, he'd make an effort.

your texter has a total lack of self-confidence. He is unable to hold a real conversation with you face to face. He needs to seek some help for that problem, before he misses out on having a normal life.
