Last year when I was planning my wedding, I read that the average wedding cost $20K. I just laughed and said, "Well, that might be what it cost if you have expensive taste. I won't spend nearly that much." Ha! We spent closer to $30K.

The wedding itself was fairly inexpensive as I bought my dress on eBay for less than $100 and he wore a suit he already owned, but the reception was pricy. We did a sit-down dinner and dancing for 200. We had a great time and my husband and I don't regret spending the big bucks on our special day. However, I know not everyone can do that.

The thing to remember is that no matter how much you spend, the result is the same. A fancy wedding with all the trimmings is fun, but in the end, it doesn't insure a happy marriage.

Godspeed.

Depending on how many people you intend on inviting, how formal the wedding is going to be and what time of the day the entire thing will be will determine how much the wedding. Even a small wedding can cost about 15,000 to 20,000. But the larger the wedding is the more expensive it will become. If your looking for a really formal wedding with a large formal reception then you are looking at a wedding that could cost about 45,000 to 100,000 like I said depending on what you are doing for that wedding.
Always rememebr that your largest cost is the flowers, cake and your dress. Everything else has a minimal part of the budget.
Good Luck with your wedding

Don't know where you live which will influence the cost drasticly. You won't pay nearly as much for a wedding in Hayseed County as you would Big City.

But here in southwestern Ohio, my DiL's brother got married last week. The bride chose a particular church & they had to use that clergy so I didn't get to perform the ceremony.....which they were disappointed in.
The church rental was $500. Catered reception was $22 per person for about 100 people. Total wedding cost was $15,000.

My son's & DiL's was less than half that. But A LOT of friends & family helped pull it off.

Well, it all depends. A lot of people are going to tell you that a nice wedding costs like $35,000. I had a nice wedding, and all together including everyone that helped with food, drinks, and all I dont think we spent more than $5,000.

My wedding was amazing, we had everything we needed and more and it only cost $3,000.

We had a family friend make bouquets out of silk flowers, orientaltrading.com has loads of inexpensive favors and decorations at decent prices, Davids bridal and after hours formal wear have great specials (we got our honeymoon half off!), we found a restaurant that had new owners and they were so excited to have a big group coming in that they way under charged us.

You can do a wedding on any budget you just have to do the research and planning yourself.

It doesn't have to cost a lot! Figure out what talents friends and relatives have, and see what they're willing to do. Examine what you want in a wedding, and what's most important to you. Seek out local venues that you might otherwise overlook--I'm getting married in a community use building, for example. My aunt is making my cake, my friend is making my jewelry and headpiece, and we're doing all the food ourselves. It's still going to be gorgeous! If you're looking to save money, a book called 'Bridal Bargains' might help. My budget is $4000, and it looks like I'm going to make it!

Depends on where you live, how many people will be attending, what kind of deals you can get, and what you consider nice.

I just started planning and I have no intention of spending more than $5,000. I live in an expensive city (LA) but I have really good contacts, so I'm saving a whole lotta money!

that totally depends on what you think is nice, what time of year you're going to get married and where in the world you live.
I think our is pretty nice and we've spent about 10-thousand dollars, which is pretty reasonable compared to other figures I've heard.
We invited 200 people
