Cousin Willie's does just fine. I only make it for this recipe:
Micro-Wave Caramel Popcorn Recipe #78693
I received this recipe from a lady in Egypt I play cards with on the internet. Tastes just as good made with margarine as it does with butter. WARNING- addictive!!!

While not my personal recipe, I have made this and here is my review:
I am going to be quite honest and admit that deep down, I somehow expected this recipe to fail. Why? It seemed too easy...to cook the caramel as simply as one would melt butter for popcorn. I expected one sticky, gooey, horrible mess. Imagine my surprise to discover how easy making caramel corn really could be- without messing around with a candy thermometer and whatnot. I did cook just a bit longer than suggested but that may have been due to the wattage of my oven. I cooked and stirred until it foamed up quite a bit in the bowl. I did use a "kettle corn" flavor of microwave popcorn in mine, as I thought the light sweetness would be excellent, and I was right. The caramel corn was very easy to break apart once it cooled, and the buttery caramel had a slight soft texture, but not very sticky. In fact, I'd say this was perfect! Thanks for posting- this will definitely be a favorite in my home.

Take a microwaveable glass dish. Fill it about half way with ammonia. Cook on high for 2 minutes. Let cool to warm with the door shut. Remove the dish & wipe out the microwave with paper towels.
