-stretch marks usually are caused by rapid weight gain, pregnancy, puberty, and many given points in life that alter the physique. the skin doesn't have time to adjust with these changes and elasticity is broken (like a rubber-band), causing the stretch mark (scar) to appear.
-the only way to permanently rid the appearance is laser surgery.
-in the mean time there are a few measures you can take to soften the marks you have and prevent new ones from forming.
-vitamin E oil, available just about anywhere that sells vitamins. can be purchased in the form of liquid or liquid capsules. the capsule will have to be punctured with a small needle and extracted by squeezing. (capsules have a very rich, thick, sticky consistency; which give better results in my opinion.) apply in the morning and especially at night before bed.
-keep skin moisturized to help maintain elasticity.

Yeah Avon has some lotion in a purple bottle that really works! Palmers Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter really works as well. My mother has been using the Avon stuff and she doesn't have a stretchmark, she's 41 had me and my twin sister and my brother and no stretchmark. The lotion really work on existing stretchmarks and prevents them as well. Palmer Cocoa Butter is great for your skin texture and complexion. Palmers also has a line specifically for stretchmarks.

regrettably there is not any way of combating them (curiously they have lots to do with genetics i.e. if your mum had them you're probable to get them) you could although practice your physique for them. I certainly have been using Cocoa Butter moisturiser on account that approximately 10 weeks so as to help my pores and skin with the stretching technique. yet another good product is BioOil which I plan to apply from approximately 20 weeks =] good success xx

Sad to say, - blame your genes when it comes to stretch marks!! Creme and gels will work to a point but the only thing that's been proven to get rid of them is laser treatment.
I've heard Stri-vectin is really good and helps out but it's not cheap.

Cocoa butter didn't help for me, but I have been using Mary Kay's new Cellu-Shape Contouring System for about 2 weeks and even the doctor noticed that they were smoothing out....you should go to http://www.marykay.com/mtravis2 and check out the statistics on this great product!!
