Hey, I'm 17 years old and I have a boyfriend who I really, really love and he feels the same about me too, but he says he's been thinking about moving to California with his Grandmother and Uncle, but he says he doesn't want to leave me because he always wants to be with me. He told me that he wants me to go with him. He says not now, but in the future. At first he asked if I would go with him after he comes back from boot camp [he's in the Marines] which is September 20th. I said I don't think so and my parents wouldn't let me although I will be 18 by then so I can just leave. He says we would live with his Grandmother and Uncle and that they have a huge house. Then he asked if we got married if I'd go with him and I said I would. I would go with him, but I would in like maybe a few years not anytime soon. Do you think I should go? Would you go? My friend told me that sometimes you need to follow your heart.

P.S. I live on Long Island right now

That seems like a really tough decision. Does he know where he's going to be stationed while in the Marines? Will he be stationed in the same place his grandmother is? What happens if you go out there, you dont know anyone besides him and his family, and he gets deployed for 8 months. Will you still be welcome in the grandmothers house? Who will you hang out with while he's gone if you dont know anyone?

Heck no you shouldn't go. I was gonna get married when I was 18 and move away with my boyfriend and looking back i realize I was crazy! I was way to young to even understand what that meant. There are a million fish in the sea and you will find a new boyfriend but you only get one family and once you leave them you are gone! be careful and think about who has always been there for you!

Well I think you should wait. Don't jump into things too fast. Plus technically even though you are 18 if you're in school you can't leave your parents without their permission(on paper). But I graduated when I was 17. When you graduate you have the right to leave. That's how it is in Arkansas anyway. Sorry good luck.

Mk so the way i see it is your ONLY 17 years old. you have your whole life ahead of you. im not saying you two arent gonna be together forever because my parents are still together after 17 years. theyve been together since high school. but i think you should follow your heart but at the same time you have your whole life. you shouldnt rush into anything.
