by Trinity you mean the Athenasian tirinty where God exists as three persons sharing one divine nature... this is what Protestants and Catholics mean by Trinity... Mormons use many similar terms but mean something else.. they do not believe in the Athenasian trinity
for several reasons
and it depends on which type of mormons you mean, the Missouri type are more similar to protestants in that they believe in one eternal GOd
the Utah ones believe in a god of this world who is married to a mrs god and who used to be mormons on another planet and became god. That planet had a a god and mrs god who used to be mormons on another planet and the universe if filled with such They believe on each planet the oldest two children of god are Jesus and Lucifer
the problem is the Biblical God in Isaiah says "I am God and I know of no other" is in no way compatible with this view And to be honest... no way is Jesus the spirit brother of lucifer... sorry... not even close
unfortunatly the bottom line is that Joseph Smith rejected the Bible long ago and followed his occultic whims substituting the gospel for his eccentric ideas and people are still being held up from the real God and the real gospel to this day because of it If mormons believed in the BIble instead of rejecting it they would have to conlude the trinity was a New Testament view of the true God

The word "TRINITY" is no where in the Bible. Niether is "God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost".
So, the theory of "trinity" is not a Biblical one.
The Godhead is Heavenly Father, His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.
Addition:
I just shake my head in wonder at all you people who talk like you KNOW what Mormons believe, yet, you are just so incredibly ignorant of what we believe! Why do you do that?

I'm not a mormon so I'm only guessing. But It may be because they do not have faith to believe in the Trinity. The Christian bible may have endless passages that prove it but their bible may not have endless passages to prove it.

1. can't read the bible as if you were to read a book today. for one, many translations have happened so one must refer back to the original, use Strongs and a Greek dictionary as well. Otherwise one will not understand what one is reading.
2. Bible clearly, over n over again states, by G_D himself..." I AM THE ONLY G_D ". Well to have a trinity that means you have 3 gods, well right off that is against what the book says. Next to put Jesus before God as a god would put G_D's name to nothingness, which is sin to him as well.
3. I am sure you believe Islam and the Qur'an is evil, right? Well read through the Bible and realize over n over He tells us to READ. Then one just has to define what " the Qur'an" means, it means " the READ ". Then you have to look in Revelation and He mentions a "small scroll", that will be sour in our stomach. yeah, sure looks like the Qur'an is sour to many christians.
4. WAKE UP, THINK, stop listening to a building, stop listening to a preacher, stop listening to man. The book is clear, man has confused it. There is no trinity, there is no rapture, both are stories. Then look in the Bible and G_D is clear, do not follow traditions, follow the book, and He even calls those that follow tradition as hypocrites.
There is a war on for your soul.......do you know where you stand? Or do you stand there cause that is where the herd went?
Then reseach ChristMast, easter, easter egg, cross, and realize these are all pagan items. Then read the Bible and He clearly says, do not take items from others like these to worship. Then He even goes on to say to worship no idol, statue, image, not of stone, wood, metal, etc. Yet I bet you stare at a cross up on the wall in church.
Stop following tradition!! He's telling you himself. He tells you to READ!! Stop listening....READ. HIS real name is YAHWEH, YHWH. It has been removed from the scriptures some 7000 times.

Mormons believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. These three make up the Godhead. There personages, but one in purpose. Mormons believe that they are three separate individual personages.
There are ample biblical scripture to show this distinction.
For example, in Acts, Stephen looked to heaven and saw God the Father and Jesus standing on his right hand side. Stephen saw two personages.....

who says they don't.I always thought that was one thing to set mormons apart from other religions is they Do believe in the trinity. Look it up in the book of mormon/ Articles of Faith...
I'm from utah. A lot of things are very incorrect about mormons. We believe the virgin Mary conceived as a virgin the son of God Jesus. we believe in the holy ghost or the holy spirit. We are given the gift of the holy ghost when baptized, but the holy ghost is always there baptized or not. We also believe the bible (translated correctly) and the book of mormon. We arent polygamous. That's the fundamentalist latter day saints. not mormon...

Mormonism teaches that the trinity is three separate Gods: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
"That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of divine dealings with man." (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35.)
"Many men say there is one God; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are only one God. I say that is a strange God [anyhow]--three in one and one in three. . .It is curious organization… All are crammed into one God according to sectarianism (Christian faith). It would make the biggest God in all the world. He would be a wonderfully big God--he would be a giant or a monster." (Joseph Smith, Teachings, 372).
In their articles of faith it simply states that they believe in God the Father, in His son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost, this is not as a trinity but as three seperate distinct persons.
This is strange because in the book of Mormon it states in 2 Nephi 31:21 that The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost are one God.
So either the book of Mormon is wrong or the teaching of Joseph Smith is wrong. so here is further teaching...
There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of God, (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1, p. 188.)
So logically speaking now the book of Mormon is wrong...
Actually if you study it through you will find that there is much in the Bible that they do not believe as Christians do.

By the trinity I'm assuming that you mean the three members of the Godhead all in one personage, for this is not the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The reason that the Church doesn't believe in this doctrine because Joseph Smith the prophet saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ as two separate personages. In order to go further on this issue, I will refer to Joseph Smith's own account of His first vision.
"I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descendedgradually until it fell upon me...When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said pointing to the other 'This is my beloved Son. Hear Him!' "
Joseph Smith had been praying to know which church to join when God and Christ appeared to Him. God told him to join none of them, but to start the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This is the reason why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in three separate beings as the Godhead, and not in the Trinity.

We believe God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Ghost, are three separate beings.
Joseph Smith's vision:
When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
Also: Luke 3:21-22
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
In Joseph Smith's history, he gives detail of his vision of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, that he saw TWO personages and they spoke to him.
In Luke, we see evidence that all three are separate beings. Christ, having been baptized; The Holy Ghost descending upon Christ in the form of a dove; our Father in Heaven proclaiming His happiness with His Son.

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
1st article of faith states:
We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
What's this if it isn't the trinity?
