Give Free Download Manager a look. I use it all the time. It has an excellent feature set and is free. A good download manager will allow you to simultaneously download multiple sections and split downloads among various mirrors. It absolutely does work.

well, i use mozilla firefox and it has an excellent download accelerators..bunch to choose from from mozilla.com, they r regularly updated and work just fine.....

download accelerators are just toys, they make no difference
