If you're used to city life then the area will come as a bit of a shock. We can all say that a place is lovely when the weather is fine and we are enjoying a holiday there. However, it all changes when the 'honeymoon period' is over and reality sets in.
Personally I love the area and would be happy to live in a place which is cut off from city life. If you are considering moving to the area permanently then I recommend that you rent a place there in the off-peak season (winter would be best) so that you can experience the place at its worse. If that does not deter you then move in permanently!

That depends on wether you want to live there or just visit and what sort of things you want to do in your spare time. There will not be much work available compared to the city and you may have to travell some distance for any decent night life or shopping.it is a favourite retirement spot so property prices are relatively high making it difficult for young first time buyers.
Having said all that I think the lakedisrict is a beautiful place with fantastic scenery and loads of open space for outdoor leisure activities, such as climbing, fell running, orienteering, walking, cycling and sailing .
You will not miss the problems of the cities such as crime, traffic and noise.I love the countryside so would choose it over the city anytime.

It's gorgeous, peaceful and scenic. The views change with every mile and best of all the air is brand new. Nothing like the second hand air in the cities. No 2 days look alike and the natives are friendly.
