I know they can hurt you but I feel absolutly sick if a moth or butterfly gets into the house.
Moths are the worse but I don't like either.
I'm fine with spiders, bees and wasps.
I doesn't usually bother me too much but It's a pest on summers nights because I won't open a window.

I don't mind them being outside.
Because they don't normally bother you.

I'm normally the most sensible (and boring) person you could wish to meet but if a moth comes in the room I run off squealing and everyone thinks it's hilarious

Oh my god - i am not alone - hello - you have made my day!!
I'm not so bad with moths, but butterflies scare the crap out of me. Symptoms to iclude screaming like a girl, sweating, shaking, crying and general panic!
I went to a butterfly farm when i was little and a big tropical one landed on me.
The only cure i know is counselling and exposing yourself to your phobia. See your doc if this is getting in the way of normal activity.

Misty- I can't tell you much about it but my 9-year-old nephew is the same way. My Husband get's really mad at him too when he acts like this around butterflies or moths or anything that flys for that matter. We haven't figured out what the problem is yet. I've tried taking him out-side and introducing him to butterflies because I love them so much and he just runs off in a tissy. It makes my husband angry because he says he's a sissy, but I think It's because he's lived the city and we live near the beach in the country. He stays in alot and hasn't been subjected to flying little things. I can't wait to see your answers, I'm just as curious myself. I think it's normal - everyone has something they're not completely comfortable with, so I shrug it off. We'll See I guess if you're normal or not I say NORMAL!!Have A Great Day!!!

Butterflies and moths, eh? Well, everybody has something different. Maybe something happened to you at a younger age that gave you such a dislike for them. Personally, I don't like moths because I used to go camping a lot when I was younger and they would always go crazy around our kerosene lamps at night. Sometimes they'd land in your hair and that's just annoying and gross. But really, I wouldn't worry about having a fear of moths or butterflies, unless it's really severe. You can definitely talk to a counselor or therapist if it gets bad. Everybody's different, after all. It's what makes life interesting.

I have a morbid fear of moths .. not so much butterflies but that might be because butterflies tend to mind their own business and dont come into the home.
Moths (esp big ones) fly erratically and they hide in corners and spring out unexpectedly - yes i hate them...
mind you i hate most flying insects, including flies, wasps etc. I hate ALL creepy crawlies to be honest with you including spiders, but i am less afraid of those that crawl because they cant attack me from the air lolol

I feel exactly the same as you. I scream my head off when a moth comes into the house . My moronic neighbours have planted a buddlei bush right next to the fence and all the damned butterflies end up flying and dive bombing around my door.

Sorry no I don't have a fear of moths and butterflies.
I developed a big fear of spiders when a big one crawled down the side of my face while I was dropping off to sleep. Makes me shiver just thinking of it. I panic if a spider comes any where near me now.
You will probably find there are loads of people with a similar fears to yours they are called Mottephobia or Lepidopterophobia
:-)))

Ever since I found some moth larva in my house once I find them a bit creepy. I panic a little inside. We got them out of the house with a bit of work thank goodness. I just have to keep telling myself that they really are kind of cool. The colors are neat. They help pollinate flowers. Buy one of those electric flyswatters and when you see one in the house zap it. That should ease your mind. Tee hee..

Moths make my feel physically sick - I will literally freak out of a big one comes into the room Wasps are another one - the have a nasty streak in them - they will sting you just because they can. Bees are lovely.
