The food involved was canned food, sold under various store lables (as opposed to name-brand foods). It is cans and pouches of "cuts and gravy" type foods.

Recalled brands of cat food are:

Americas Choice; Preferred Pets; Authority; Best Choice; Companion; Compliments; Demoulas Market Basket; Fine Feline Cat, Shep Dog; Food Lion; Foodtown; Giant Companion; Good n Meaty; Hannaford; Hill Country Fare; Hy-Vee; Key Food; Laura Lynn; Li'l Red; Loving Meals; Main Choice; Nutriplan; Nutro Max Gourmet Classics; Nutro Natural Choice; Paws; Presidents Choice; Price Chopper; Priority; Save-A-Lot; Schnucks; Sophistacat; Special Kitty; Springfield Pride; Sprout; Total Pet; My True Friend; Wegmans; Western Family; White Rose; and Winn Dixie.

My sympathies on your loss.

oh no... I am so sorry you lost your cat. I guess you suspect that the cat food recall has something to do with it. There are several groups of greiving pet owners going on right now for possible litigation against Menufoods. There is one here in yahoo groups: MenuFoodsClassAction@yahoogroups.com.
The other that I know about is being done with PetConnection.com. This group is actually initiating their own "investigative" work. These groups may be in a position to help you get answers. (I feel so bad about your cat... sob, sniff... I know I would be packing death for Menufoods if my own cats died becuase of their negigence).

I was feeding my cat the Special Kitty Brand of DRY FOOD from walmart and within 3 days she went from fun loving to miserable and not moving she stopped eating, stopped going to the washroom and stopped breathing just a short time ago. She was only 2 years old. So, even though they say its only the wet food so far I wouldn't trust the dry either. Now I've got to explain this to my kids in the morning.

I'm sorry for your pet. I would send them an email and contact the BBB (Better Business Bureau). I think they were poisoning a lot of innocent pets.
