Is there anyway to do the program without joining?

I love Weight Watchers. They have two different programs, one where you count points ( everything you eat has a points value) and the Core program where you eat certain foods like whole grains, lean protein lots of fruits and veggies, non fat dairy , no sugar or white flour and you eat only until you're satisfied.
I did the core program, it's a no brainer and it's the way everyone should be eating anyway. And with Weight Watchers they always allow room for treats.
But for the whole story and support, you need to join.

I know COUNTLESS people that have been helped by weight watchers... You can go to any book store.. or maybe even online to find different books that will list any and every food that you eat and will give you the point values and stuff. I do know that when you join, you can go to the meetings and stuff and they have access to really helpful tools in helping the process... things like eating out guides and all that jazz... It is a little pricey though, and my mom is doing it now without joining the program and she is doing great... It's basically, I think, a support system and in my opinion you can do the exact same thing with great friends and loved ones. I think if you could find someone that would do it with you, that would be ideal! That way you could have a person to talk to that wouldn't mind hearing about what you had to eat that day!! Good Luck..

I did weight watchers about 5 years ago and lost about 16 kg (35 lbs). I've since gained it back but I also started back with old habits and had two kids. I lost weight quickly but also learned some bad habits by trying to get as much as I could for my points. (still snacking after dinner etc.)

If you go in smart and stick to it but also try to stick to healthy foods (not too much "low fat" stuff that has heaps of sugar) it can be a good program. I think there are some real positive benefits to it and if you need structure and accountability it can help.

It really comes down to eating healthy but it gave me some guidelines to stick to which I found helpful.

it is a good program for sure. My doctor told me that it is the prefect food plan. Everyone should eat that way. You could just get the books from someone and try to do it that way. I have found something else that I like better because I was doing WW but I would rather do it myself and not have to weigh in front of others. Just don't like it and it hurts your self esteem.
