I am a preschool teacher who recently resigned my position due to several flaws at the school in which I was working. The name of the school is sterling academy in cooper city florida. Please, if you live in the area, and are looking for a preschool do not even consider this school. I cannot go into details, however, I was extremely disappointed with how the staff was treated, as well as the lack of cleanliness. About 75 percent of the employees have similar view points and are on thier way out. In addition several parents have become fed up with the situation and are pulling thier children out. Some good schools in the area are oxford academy, chesterbrook, and the jcc, they are a little more money but well worth it.

I appreciate teachers who put the livelihood of the children in front of the almighty dollar. Many parents do not know what to look for in researching a quality daycare, and any information you can give them to help them make an informed choice for their child is a great help. If you have the type of concerns about the treatment of children or that the center is not meeting minimal standards of care, please take the next step and report them to the licensing agency in your area. Do not allow more families to be subjected to substandard care for their children. Write down all your observations in a timeline of when they occurred, so that you have documentation to back up your claims when you report it. Remember, as a child care provider, if there were any situations in which a child or children are put in harms way or otherwise endangered, it is your responsibility as a mandated reporter to report such incidents to the licensing agency (or face fines/jail time). Good job standing up for your beliefs for the treatment and quality care of children, and good luck finding a better center.

One great school is Discovery Preschool in Coral Springs. There is another one in Coconut Creek. These schools are fabulous. They are clean, the teachers are well trained and very caring, the entire staff is friendly and everyone treats one another with respect. Parents are welcome to drop in anytime. My sons have been there a total of 3 years and I have no complaints at all.

Well, I used to live in Cooper City and I heard it was a very bad school. Right now, I live in Miami and I am going to vacation in Jacksonville during spring break. My nephew goes to a very good pre school called building blocks. It is nice, and thanx for the warning.
