The rich lived in stone houses and the poor in huts made of mud bricks and straw hardened in the sun

~ Probably very similiar to ours... the wealthy had finer walls, floors, ceilings and furnishings
The poor had inferior walls, dirt floors, leaking ceilings and meager furnishings...
~ Most of Israel and the areas where Jesus taught... from the Gallilee to the Jezreel Valley:
~ ~ To the North: Iron; Bethsaida / Julias; Zebulun
~ ~ To the East: Chorazin; Julias/Gadara; Ammathus
~ ~ To the South: Endor; Scythopolis; Jezreel
~ ~ To the West: Jotapata; Ptolemais/Megiddo; Bethlehem of Gallilee
These areas did not have the lumber that most countries have for building material... their material was rocks... more rocks... big ones... small ones... burnt ones (Sodom and Gomorah)... white ones... all kinds... SO... most had walls of stone and/or mud... or sticks/mud.
There were not BIG mountains... most are considered hills... where the major populations were.
