Gas pistols, virtually identical to blank guns,(starter pistols), are common in European countries where real firearms are banned. People WANT to own guns, whether their governments allow them to or not, and these pistols are purchased not only for collecting, but for "self defense" ...if you can CALL it that. You see, they are designed to fire a "tear-gas" cartridge.... actually a blank with a small amount of irritating powdered MACE in place of the wad. These are marginally effective in this role, at best. In Russia, these pistols, in larger blank/gas calibers, come in many sizes, styles, and finishes, just like real firearms, and can cost a couple hundred dollars or more! The m-6 gas pistol you have is one of the ones commonly found in the United States. They were sold through magazine ad's (and may well still be) in the American Legion magazine as well as many others. They were avalible in standard black, and fancier nickel plated finishes, and retailed between 29.00 and 49.95 depending on model and source.
