I got my top brackets on saturday and my spacers but they didnt put on my bottom ones or my wire does anyone know how long this usually takes? Also I need a bite plate is this holding up the process and how long does this take? My ortho was telling me this stuff but I can't remember what he told me because I had 5 fillings right before they placed on my brackets and I was very drugged up. also I know you arent suppose to drink soda but I forgot and accidently did. Does anyone know if my brackets will fall off? or do I have to drink alot of soda?
thanks

The time it takes to get all of your braces varies for each person. Some people get them on all at once. Usually when you get spacers you have to have them in for at least a few days. These gently space out your molars so the ortho can put the bands on that wrap around your molars. The wire can't be placed until the bands are on because that is what they connect to.

I don't really know about the bite plate, because I never had one, but I'm sure the time it takes depends on the person.

Also yes, drinking soda can make your brackets fall off, but it really depends on what you are drinking. If you drink diet soda, it shouldn't be a problem because there is no sugar. It is all the sugar in regular soda that breaks the bonds of the cement holding the brackets on your teeth. If you just forgot once and had some it probably won't make them fall off. If you occasionally want to drink soda, you can try drinking it through a straw so it isn't touching the front of your teeth so much.

When is your next appointment? Will more than likely have booked you in for the bottom teeth in the next week or two.
Not a good idea to chug down the soda but if you want some ensure you brush properly. I used to eat sweets and drink soda and had no problems but sounds as if your teeth are needing a break if you have had a bunch of fillings. No use spending the money straightening them if you let them rot away. Best of luck, your smile will be wonderful by the end of this treatment.

when i got my braces on November 20th 2006 they put on only the top ones as well. They said i had too much of an overbite to put on the bottom ones cuz my teeth would push off the brackets. (a normal overbite is 50%) after that i got them tightened once and then the next time i went in they put on my bottom ones. Feb. 24th 2007. It might take longer or shorter for you to get them on cuz everyones teeth move at different paces.
I knew this one kid who only had to wear braces for like a couple of months which is Krazy!! and i have a friend who has been wearing them for like 3 and a half years so it just depends on your teeth.

as for soda i drink it all the time. you can also chew gum as long as it is sugar free, cuz other wise it will stick to the braces.

I cant answer all of the questions but I dont think soda makes your braces fall off. I have braces =[ and i drink soda all the time. They always give you a list of things you cant eat or drink but I eat or drink them anyways. Just be careful eatting the things that might break a wire or something unless your not going to eat the bad things.

no, i don't think soda will make your braces fall off. i had soda every saturday (when i had braces of course) and nothing happened. and people tend to have braces for at least 2 years. unless your teeth arent' that crooked, then it could even be less. if you really want all the specific info, just ask your ortho.that's the best source you can have

i had braces for awhile, i drank pop, chewed gum, you name it, and my teeth still turned out great.

just if you need rubber bands, wear those, dont forget to brush your teeth or they will end up with a white square on them from the bracket being there (didnt happen to me but ive heard stories)
