This is a follow-up to my previous question. To get you up to speed, my ex grilfriend dumped me a month ago with no warning, no discussion, completely unexpected. She was very cruel and her reasons made no sense. Rumor has it that she left me for another guy; that's usually the case when it's sudden like that. We are co-workers and we were close friends before we started dating. Double whammy. I told her I wanted to stay friends after the breakup, but I'm having second thoughts about that. With friends like her, who needs enemies? Right now, I'm thinking that her treatment of me was inexcusable. I didn't deserve that. Should I waste my time being her friend? My other friends are markedly less psychotic.

That sounds selfish and cold, you deserve better. You can change being "friends" to being pleasant and not letting the air out of her tires.... ;<}

I wouldn't get too close, because someone who might be wonderful to know could think you are still taken and not take steps to get to know you like that; if you keep yourself independent from this previous relationship, it will open you up for a quicker healing and meeting new people.

You are awfully sweet to be so thoughtful, you ought to do real well in this world. I wish you a happy ending.

It very hard to be friends with an ex. Especially in a co-worker environment. You know that you have to be civil to her when you two are at work, but in all actuality you just want to yell at her and ask her why she broke up with you. If you think that you are the only one making an effort in trying to be friends, they stop see what happens, let her try to be your friend is she wants too.

You cannot stay friends with your ex after breaking up as long as strong feelings exist. Check out "Christian Carter" on the internet. I've found he offers exceptional advice into understanding both sexes and dating. Good Luck.

okay if you think you didnt deserve that treatment with the breakup, then i guess it would be best to not being friends with her. it best cause you wouldnt be killing yourself over the break up and if you have other friends that are less psychotic than her then why keep her as a friend?

Forget being friends! You don't need that kind of stress! Just ignore her the best you can but be polite, never be rude her or talk behind her back.

If you take the high road, she will see what she lost and feel pretty stupid later on.

Best of luck.

Hell no you should not be her friend.
Since you work with her, you should be polite but treat her very formally at work and do NOT take any unwork related calls from her after hours.
what is the point.
Evenutally she is going to throw it in your face that she is dating someone else.
who needs the grief.

Cut your losses and quit your job if you can, because once you stop being her friend, she will stab you in the back every chance she gets. A friend like that is really no friend at all, my friend calls them JPTs . . . just passing through your life.

I personally would just forget her, as you say who needs friends like that.
In time she might want to become friends again, but that's her decision to make. But don't make the mistake of it going any further than that, just friends.
