The only person who can really help you stop is yourself. I'm sure its hard, I've had many bad habits in my day, but you really need to try. When you feel the need to cut yourself, you need to find a new vent, perhaps art of some sort might help you better express your feelings without causing this harm to your body.
Cutting for you is both an emotional and physical issue and you should tell your parents as hard as that may be. Though I can see why you would keep it a secret from them. You do know you are endangering your well being and this is dangerous.
I think other than needing support and maybe just a good friend to openly vent to, you should find someone to talk to. I know there are hotlines you can call to talk to people but therapy may be best for you because perhaps there is a deeper issue (depression, anxiety, etc) that is at the root of this. I'm no therapist, but I think there is something more too it and this habit is far from healthy. I wish you luck.

Your cutting yourself releases endorphins (or internal pain killers) into your system giving you a temporary high, so of course you think it is really helping.
Good thing is: you won't get busted for taking illegal drugs.
Bad thing is: you are scarring your body up something furious and THAT is something you are going to have to deal with for the rest of your life; you could cause yourself an infection that has to be treated by the ER, because nobody knows why or how you got the infection; or you could hurt yourself permanently.
Basically, you are drugging yourself to get over the pain on the inside.
I realize that us older types aren't the most observant, but one of us is eventually going to notice. You may not want to tell your parents, but eventually you will have to explain the scars when someone sees them.
Don't sell yourself short, which is what you are doing right now. As much as I love Yahoo answers and the amazing people I have interacted with, I wouldn't let this question go without saying you are in the wrong area to get the answer you need.
You deserve the best help you can get to help you stop mutilating yourself.
You deserve the support of your family to help you stop mutilating yourself.
So, give me a thumbs down or just ignore or hate me if you will; but you need to tell your parents AND get to professional help right away.

You may not want to hear that you should tell your parents - but you probably should. Yes, it will be hard to do, and yes, they may act angry and upset, but ultimately they will probably do the right thing and help you find the right kind of help to stop.
It might help to find someone else to tell first - a brother or sister, a close friend, a teacher that you feel comfortable with, maybe even a family friend. They can help you take whatever steps you need to take. Unfortunatly this is not one of those things that we can just tell you to get over it and chew gum and get a hobby to make it all better. It isn't going to be easy, and since it is sounding as though you are a minor, you will probably need your parents help to get the information and assistance you are going to need.
Good luck and remember - sometimes in life the things we need to do are not the things we want to do.

you should definitly stop. cutting is not the way to make yourself feel better. im sure there a lot of things out there that can help you if you feel uspet or mad. hanging out with friends, taking a walk, some kind of sport, anything. if it has become an obsession, you really should tell some one.

I used to cut myself, and i understand not wanting to tell anyone, but what really helps me cope with different issues now is writing, if youre mad or upset about something, just write it out , you can write whatever you want, just hide it or throw it away so no one will read it. and i also talk to people about my life alot, it really makes me feel better

i really dont think you should be telling us this, we're not gonna help you much at all. the only person who can stop you from what youre doing is yourself.
if you dont want to talk to anyone about it, then take it into your own hands.. try telling a friend you can trust.

it helps because it releases endorphins.
when i was trying to stop i went running whenever i felt the need, it also releases endorphins.
you may want to reconsider going to a therapist as well.

there are pleanty of ways to help yourself be less sad, other than cutting. one of my friends had this problem, and she stopped by throwing out all her razors and buying hair removal cremes or lotions. try that?
