Fill up the 7 gallon jug. Pour it into the 5 gallon, and then dump out the 5 gallon. Now you have 2 gallons in a 7 gallon jug. Pour those 2 into the 5 gallon jug, and refill the 7 gallon jug. Pour out 3 gallons from the 7 jug into the 5 by filling up the 5 gallon jug. This leaves you with 4 gallons in the 7 gallon jug. Dump out the full 5 gallon jug , and pour the 4 gallons from the 7 gallon jug into it. Refill the 7 gallon jug, and fill the 5 gallon jug with it. Then you dump out the 5 gallon jug, and are left with a 7 gallon jug with 6 gallons in it!
Phew!
