Basically the baro-receptors in your carotid arteries which correct you blood pressure when you change position are not correcting quickly enough. The result is they have failed to raise your blood pressure slightly as they need to do when you stand up. Because the pressure is slightly lower than it should be, briefly, there is not enough blood getting to your brain. This gives you a feeling of faintness and lightheadedness. The body corrects the problem in seconds.

It's called Orthostatic Hypotension, which means your blood pressure drops when you stand up. Many people live with this every day. It may be as simple as drinking more water (you could be dehydrated), or there may be a different treatment. You might just have to get used to it. Not a bad idea to check in with your clinic and ask if you should be seen... Ed, RN

I tried to answer your question extensively ,but the system wiped it off as I have little time , dont make light of the situation , your worried and so you should be as young as you are you could possibly have Hypertension high blood preasure Just be glad that you got early symptoms not late in life like I did . It can damage your blood vessels , Heart ,Stroke and Alzheimer's . See A doctor regularly see if they say you should go on tablets its life long but very reassuring
Take Care and my advice !!

We learned this in seventh grade, its because when you stand up all the blood runs down and no blood is pumped up to your brain so you get dizzy. I passed out from it once.

In health we were talking about that. I guess its because your brain cant keep up with your body because you were just sitting around. It goes into some kind of stage?
