unless you hear him actually say these things you are not certain that he is saying them....
what you are certain of is that someone says he is saying them.... a very different thing!!
when my ex was reported to be saying negative things about me my response was to say, "Well oddly I dont feel that way about him." or to simply tell the person telling me "Since I am no longer in relationship with him it doesnt really matter what he says.."
If he is saying these things directly to you then you should look him in the eye and smile your sweetest smile and say "I am so sorry you feel that way. It saddens me to think you feel that way. I have so many fond memories of our time together I had hoped you would too." then walk away....

Ex-lovers often talk about about the person that they were recently with... it's not uncommon.
Just let it go, if people know he is your ex, they won't pay much attention to it. Usually someone talks badly about their ex because they are hurt that the relationship ended, or they want to come of as "the good guy".
Things will blow over after a while.

Go to the guy first they are always mor approachable in most situations because if they have any manners they won't attack you when you yell at um. Good luck sweety and try not to let things get to you so much. They are just jealous crackers.
