I was also wondering if i had to be at the DMV to get the permit replaced (if i can get it replaced) or can my mom just go to the DMV and get the replacement permit for me?

you have to show proof that you are who you say you are. bring a birth certificate. i don't think your mom can do it. you'll also have to pay for it.

Mom's are great for allot of things, but this is one you will have to do.....for the reason being it is YOUR DRIVER'S PERMIT, not your mothers. You will also need to try and bring other forms of ID to prove you are who you say you are. Some states will be able to issue one the same day, cause the already have all the information saved on the computers there at the DMV, others will issue you a temporary and you will wait for your official driver's permit.

Some advice, the best days to go to the DMV is Tuesday and Wednesday, usually less traffic in the DMV lines in most areas.

Good luck.

How close are you to taking the drivers test.

When you take the test some states to not ask for the permit (after all, they have the records there). So.. you take the test, pass and jump straight to the driver's license.

If you are not ready for that, then just call up the local DMV and ask what you need to do.. Much better info then asking here (especially since you did not even tell us what Country you are in let alone what state).
