The Book of Mormon tells me it's unalterable.

Really? Never changed? How about these:
The Adam-God doctrine (Adam is God the Father);
- the United Order (all property of church members is to be held in common, with title in the church);
- Plural Marriage (polygamy; a man must have more than one wife to attain the highest degree of heaven);
- the Curse of Cain (the black race is not entitled to hold God's priesthood because it is cursed; this doctrine was not abandoned until 1978);
- Blood Atonement (some sins - apostasy, adultery, murder, interracial marriage - must be atoned for by the shedding of the sinner's blood, preferably by someone appointed to do so by church authorities

Your examples were either:
A) not ever official doctrines - but opinions of church leaders (yes, we are allowed to voice our opinions).
or
B) Policies or practices - Most Christians accept the premise that practices can be changed - early Christianity examples are circumsicion no longer being required, the gospel being preached to Gentiles when before it was not allowed etc.

1. Adam/God was never doctrine. So, it could not be changed. It was, at most, a theory, but, never doctrine.
2. United Order was never doctrine, it was practice. And when it didn't work, it was stopped.
3. Plural marriage. That was also practice, rather than doctrine. Celestial marriage might be considered doctrine, and it's never changed.
4. curse of Cain, was also THEORY, not ever doctrine. We don't even know if this was why they were denied the priesthood.
5. "- Blood Atonement (some sins - apostasy, adultery, murder, interracial marriage - must be atoned for by the shedding of the sinner's blood, preferably by someone appointed to do so by church authorities"
Boy, do you have THIS one wrong!
Blood atonement was never supposed to be practiced, it, too, was theory. This was something that never practiced except for capital punishment used by most of the US.
If you want to know our doctrine that's unalterable, go to our scriptures, starting with the Articles of Faith.

The doctrine isn't changing!!!! If there is a correction is how things are practiced, it isn't the "leadership" that makes the change. Our Prophet doesn't just change something because he feels like it. It is changed because of revelation form God. God can change things based on what is needed at that point.
I really get tired of people that don't know what they are talking about making claims that are totally false. Get reliable info before you make a claim that makes you look stupid.
BTW, your reference is taken out of context. This means that your whole premise is flawed! Again, you look stupid!
EDIT: Clarification on your lies/false info --
We have never believed that Adam is God the Father - that is incorrect! / United Order is not "practiced" because it doesn't work right now / Polygamy is not "practiced" because it is illegal and a revelation changed this practice / Blacks and the priesthood - not "practiced" due to a revelation! / Blood atonement is for murder only. NO PLACE IS IT STATED THAT IT IS DONE BY CHURCH LEADERS!
Since you have no idea what you are talking about, SHUT UP! You look like a fool. Or are you just trying to give people lies and hope they believe you?

First of all, I will say, that I do not hate people that are mormons. Now with that said, the religion of mormons is a false form of Christianity. It is a false teaching and a made up fairy tale by Joseph Smith and perpetuated on by his cohorts. The book of mormon not only contradicts the Bible, it also contradicts factual science. For example, there were not horses here in 880 BC, this was in its own way a beautiful place, but not the land of plenty in the way the book of mormon describes it. Joseph Smith was just as much of a scam artist as his mother and father were. His mother read crystal balls and was busted several times in N.Y. The list could go on, all you have to do is read about this stuff and anyone with a degree of intelligence would realize that mormonism is a fraud.
Mormons claim it isn't a replacement to the Bible, but an addition to the Bible, but yet contradicts the Bible and God's word so much that I can not see how they could honestly make that false claim with a serious face.
No true prophet of God would contradict the teachings of Jesus, nor the prophets in the Old Testament.
It is extremely obvious where Smith tried to copy the Bible in some aspects, but his being as uneducated as he was, he didn't have the intelligence to even come close in his mimicking of the Bible's teachings.

Actually, the doctrines have never changed. Some practices have changed and evolved to support the church in its various stages from inception to now. The doctrines were not revealed all in one fell swoop but rather line upon line precept upon precept as the people of the church were ready to receive them. The doctrines have never changed.
