Not nearly as well known as it should be! I think all Scottish schools should teach it.

Not very well-known at all, unless you are a Catholic, or a Scot, and are interested in History. As you can see from the lack of answers to your question.

In 1320, a whole load of Scottish Lords got together in Arbroath Abbey, and signed a declaration basically blackmailing the Pope into accepting and declaring Scottish independence, and to take no notice of English claims to Scotland. They told him if he didn't, more deaths would occur and he would be responsible for them.

I am Catholic and interested in History, I'm not Scottish though.
