Alaska... seriously!! I went there about 4 years ago and it was the most beautiful, serene places I have ever travelled to, and I got kudos as not many people travel there. It is does not consist of igloos and snow unless you choose to travel there in November/December and even then you would have to travel to Northern most points e.g Barrow to see any igloos!
I have travelled all over the world and that place is sublime. The people were terribly friendly, the scenery outstanding [they have the highest mountain in North America there - Denali] and there are lots out outdoor activities you can pursue of that is what you like. Even if you hate outdoor activities it is a really trendy, funky place particularly Anchorage.
