My wedding is September 15th in Texas so im thinking it might be in the 70's. The reception will be @ 4 oclock and held @ my grandmas house but will be outside and inside because of the number of people. I don't normally wear skirts or dresses but will because its my wedding day. I want to wear something that looks nice but isnt jeans and a shirt. If I wore a dress what style should I get and what colors. Like one thats to my knees or a longer one, with straps no straps, dark colors or like white with green or white with brown. I dont want to be fancy but I want to look presentable as well.

Yeah maybe I will wear my wedding dress for awhile but the wedding is at 3 and the reception is at 4 and I just figured I would want to change eventually. If I shouldnt then let me know. Heck im new at this!

Is your reception on a different day from your wedding? Usually the bride goes to the reception in her wedding gown and continues to wear it through the evening. Sometimes the bride will change halfway through the reception into something more comfortable that she can dance in.
If you're not going to wear your wedding gown for whatever reason, I would recommend an elegant dress. There is no convention for proper lenght/straps/colors, so that will come down to your personal preference. It also depends on how formal your family is.
Try to find a dress that really flatters you by showing off your best assets or for example by bringing out the color in your eyes. You want to look great because all attention will be focused on you and your new husband!
Congratulations!

Wear a dress that stop mid calf or stop a little below the knee thats made of a cool material, wear white, its cooler. If you wear strap how about spahatti nothing bigger than that. If you do not want to wear white try something like yellow, or light blue, or summer colors, which are green and some other colors.

Usually whatever you want, but on a sidenote if it's September in Texas, expect a lot higher than 70s, though depending on where it'll be. If it's south central, probably 80s or 90s, farther north I'm not sure.
a think a lovely tea length dress would be great, or if you'll not want to wear a dress anymore a nice white pantsuit is also acceptable.

you do what you want. a lot of people get 2 gowns for the wedding - one for the ceremony and one for the reception.
you can wear your wedding gown throughout the wedding and reception.
if you want to wear something else maybe consider getting a tealength dress in a soft color(white, pink, blue, whatever to match your wedding colors)
just relax and have fun!

I don't want to step on any toes, but I figure, I just spent $1200 on my wedding attire and I would like to wear it for more than 15 min...I'd wear the dress to the reception also!!

No, these days girls wear their wedding dresses the whole day and evening - it's only that one day you get to wear it, after all. Gone are the days that women changed into a "going away" outfit towards the end of the dance.
Congrats! and good luck with everything!

Here are some nice dresses that I think you would feel comfortable in. They arent over the top but you would look presentable and like the bride that you will be. They are from Davids Bridal so they will be easy to find.

This is what I found at David's Bridal, but there is also a Mix and Match tool you can use just go to their site.
