Last week when we were visiting my mom my 8 month old stuck my mom's cats paw in his mouth. Then this morning, about 1 week later the cat suddenly died. He came in from outside and looked like he had a seizure and died right then. The cat is young, about 1 & 1/2 and as far as everyone knows healthy. Should I be concerned for my baby?

I doubt it, most diseases are specific to a certain species and also fortunately we don't immediately catch everything we come into contact with. But true, some things aren't that specific, if you want to be safe take the body to the vet. Might be a good idea for other reasons too; it sounds like it could be poisoning. If your mom wants to get a new cat any time, and for other cat owners in the neighborhood, it's important to know if that's the case.

Wow! Be concerned, very concerned....not much can be transmitted by your baby puting the cats foot in his/her mouth. Most parasites are transmitted fecal oral route (eating the cats poop) and rabies is tranmitted by bites or scratches. DEFINITELY take your cat to be autopsied, a sudden death by seizure like symptoms could be rabies! Rabies can take kill rapidly depending how far from the brain the bite was. This is why people are urged to keep their pets vaccines current, it doens't just protect the pet, but also the family. Good luck!

I highly urge you to take the body to the vet for a necropsy. This will determine the cause of sudden death and you need to know. Possibly your cat was on one of the foods recently recalled?? It is all over the news and yu will find other questions posted at Yahoo about that plus the website, etc.

Call your vet today or in morning about this.
