I get very frequent canker sores...and when I get them it is absolutely dreadful to brush my teeth, it hurts like crazy because I accidentally bump them or brush them. I use the Rembrandt Canker Sore tooth paste. I still want to make sure my teeth/mouth are clean and healthy even when I have canker sores. Does anyone know of a mouth wash that will not cause nor aggravate canker sore?
Also, has anyone tried the Apthasol medication for these sores, if so did it work as they say?

I have had that problem since childhood and the Rembrandt toothpaste has been a great help; I hardly ever get the sores any more.

Here's my regimen to keep them from happening: Brush daily with Rembrandt Canker Sore formula (I use a medium bristle Oral B Cross Action brush); floss thoroughly; then rinse for at least 30 seconds with Listerine (the original formula, not the newer flavored kinds).

You have probably noticed that if you happen to bite the inside of your mouth, you will develop a sore in that spot. You can minimize this by IMMEDIATELY brushing your teeth, then dip the toothbrush in Listerine and scrub the bite until it bleeds out. You can also use hydrogen peroxide instead of, or in addition to, the Listerine. It hurts like hell but it's over quickly and more often than not the bite will heal without developing into a sore.

And yes, I am totally serious about all of this. I am 45 years old and have been relatively canker-sore-free for at least 15 years by practicing these methods.

I use the new Crest Pro-Health mouth wash. It's alcohol-free so it won't sting as much as listerine or any other common mouth wash. As for the medication, I have not tried it but I think you can find consumer feedback online if you google. Hope this helps!

It's funny you ask. My girlfriend has the same thing recently. She came across someone who told her to use half water half hydrogen peroxide. It also reduces the swelling. She saw a difference within a day or so.
