I suspect your first 10 lbs is pure water weight. Slow down on the drinking and that 10 lbs will drop quick for you. If you go dancing or do exercises, even at night or in bed before you rise that counts toward weight loss, so does walking after dinner (even half an hour) as does eating less than the normal 1300 calories you would eat per day. You can't judge your food by making a pot of something, you have to make a lot smaller portions, and that takes learning how to cook smaller portions. If you're alone then it's not worth cooking as you can get the vitamins and minerals you need from a vitamin pill and then just hardly eat anything for a while. TV dinners help me lose weight; all I have is one a day, there's not much in them. If you change from eating meat to a vegetarian diet you'll lose weight quicker. Remember that pasta makes sugar and fruit has a lot of sugar in it too (fruit is just sugar in a different form) so slow down on those. And stop the soft drinks altogether. So you see it's not a matter of what to cook, it's a matter of hardly eating till you've lost at least 20 lbs...from there on you can start with vegetarian meals. Remember too that the last bunch of pounds you want to lose would be harder to lose than the first 10-15 so you will have to work harder at that. If you can afford it nutrisystem can sell you foods, but you must go according to their diet. If you get hungry then eat stuff like popcorn (no salt or butter or anything on it) or pretzles (without salt). See salt holds water in your system and you want to lose (some) water weight). If you exercise that will let go of the water.

I am sure the chicken boiled in water was gross...
I found a fantastic way to make vegetables.. roast them in the oven... cut up some veggies (mushrooms, peppers, potatoes (try to not make them a huge amount, asparagus works well too) put them in a baking dish and drizzle Olive oil on them, some oil is fine, add some spices salt, pepper, garlic.. something to give them nice flavour) mixed them around so the spices and the oil is well distributed and roast them in the oven.. this is so much better then steaming them..
Why not also roast some fresh salmon.. salmon has good fat and its very nutritious and healthy. Salmon is hard to mess up too, salt, pepper, I don't like to cover it, its looks mushy... I leave it uncovered...
If what you make takes disgusting you won't enjoy your food and it will be hard to stick to the diet...
Or fajitas... lots of peppers and sliced chicken or beef... you can get kits from the store and usually you can pick up sliced peppers and chicken or beef... flat bread....
Keep food fun the interesting, then it will be a fun adventure not a dreaded meal.

I too am in the trying to loose zone. I try to make sure dinner has a portion of meat (I keep bags of frozen chicken breasts and lean steak cuts in the freezer)
Then I decide - Italian, Mexican, Chinese???? etc.
Again my pantry is stocked with lots of condiments to get me to these flavors.
Chop simple veggies like bell peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes, celery, etc. - whatever goes with the flavor I have chosen and 'stir fry' with the meat and seasonings in a non stick pan with cooking spray (I often cheat and by precut veggies at the supermarket salad bar)
Then experiment with additions like water chestnuts for Asian foods, or avocado with Mexican, fennel with Italian, etc.
Just stay away from the crunchy fried toppings - use nuts instead if you miss the salty crunchy thing, and I add extra veggies instead of serving with rice, pasta, or other starchy sides.
Then treat your self to great fresh pineapple, cherries, strawberries, or something ripe and beautifully in season for dessert - and good luck!

My grandfather just lost a ton of weight with this diet:
Breakfast:
Grapefruit
Lunch:
Salad with no heavy dressing
Dinner:
Anything since you save all your calories all day, but with portion control.
It worked really well for him. If you don't like grapefruit I would eat oranges or something along those lines. Also drink lots of water or tea throughout the day not soda.

Have interesting food in moderation. Having boiled chicken will just make you sick of your diet.
If given a choice between eating less and exercising more, go for exercising more. Eat better, if possible, but not go overboard on fatlessness. Exercise more.

If you really want to lose weight you don't need to cook anything. All you need are nuts, raw fruits, vegetables and water, and perhaps some fish.
