woudn't be better to use marmol floors or something similar?

Probably for the sound dampening effect & in case someone spills, a damp spot in the carpet is safer - people are less likely to slip.

Not all airports have carpet. Some that come to mind are Tulsa, Chicago O'Hare, Birmingham, most of the Pittsburgh airport except the concourses, Great Falls, and Wichita.

Youll find airports are replaceing carpet with tile .
By the end of the year or sooner youll see it being done around the country.
