the first thing is sitting on command. Take a bit of kibble and get on your puppy's level, sit on the floor in front of him and let him see the kibble. now say sit as you move the kibble above his head. Where the head goes the body will follow. When he sits tell him good boy/girl and give him the kibble. He will soon know that if he sits he will get the kibble. To get your puppy to stay is little harder. After he has mastered the sit on command then say stay and move a little bit away, not across the room but just a bit. Enough for him to notice you have moved. He will want to follow you so you will have to put him back in the original spot quite often at first but no kibble until he doesn't follow. If he stays even for a few seconds tell him what a good boy he is and give him the kibble. This proses will take some time but it always works. We have a beagle puppy who is 31/2 month old and a shepherd puppy who is 9 weeks and they both will do these and others on command. Remember their attention span is not the greatest as puppies and 10 to 15 minutes at a session is all they can tolerate.
