I have had Vonage for over a year.
Pros: Good price, 30$ (service + taxes). Unlimited calling, all the normal stuff, call waiting, caller ID, etc. You can pay online, hmm lets see..Voicemail included also, that is nice.

Cons:
I've really only had 2 issues with them, 1- their customer service centers are out of country so if you have to call for anything, be prepared for a little frustration. 2-the one time i did have an issue with my router, it was a little longer process than just calling up the phone company because I had to make a call to Vonage and then to my internet provider.

overall- for 30$ a month, if you anticipate using your home phone a lot, its great. Otherwise, if you have a cell phone you can just add more minutes to for 5 or 10$, go that route and forgoe the home telephone all together.

Hope that helped :)

I've never used Vonage but I do have a similar VOIP phone service called Sunrocket. I love it, it is cheaper than Vonage and works just as well.

I also have Packet8 and love it! There customer service center is in California.....I did do some research before I made my decision....I almost took vonage, because there advertise so much, and I had never heard about Packet8! but I got free activation, 2 free phones and free shipping (promo)...go on the vonage forum and read....also go to dslreports...and educate yourself first before making your decision....
