I have deep red couches and a two yellow walls, they're actually a golden feux venetian plaster finish. Black bookcases and a black fire place. The original walls are khaki colored, and they were ok until i did the two golden walls, now they just look unfinished. What color can i paint them without taking away from the fire place or the venetian wall? Those are my main focus points.

I would paint the other two walls basically the same color as the venetian plaster walls. It wouldn't look exactly the same because it would just be an even coat of paint and not the plaster treatment but I still would stick with that same color.

Well the best way to deal with this is to find a color wheel and find you colors in the wheel and find the complementary color on the wheel. Here are the rules of a color wheel Primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) are in the outer ring creating a triangle secondary colors (orange, green, purple) create a second triangle on the outer ring of the wheel. In the center is gray which is a color technically void of color. The way you can create gray is to choose colors that are directly opposite of each other on the wheel and when you mix them the colors canel each other to create gray.

All other colors from the outer ring to the center are tertiary colors. So you want to find you colors in the center area of the color wheel and find the colors directly oposite of those colors in the wheel. These will be the complementary colors of your current colors. They will visually work the best.

I agree with amiboo. Stick with the same wall color, or as close as you can get to it.

I'd go for good old white. It'll help the rest stand out.
