accepting....otherwise nothing is wrong. Don't let the opinions of others effect your confidence.

Criticism is hard to take. Especially if it is from those you see everyday. It sounds like you are hurt by what someone has said or done. I am sorry for this.
There is only one time where it is wrong to "live your own life" and that is when it hurts other people.
As for asking people to be nice, I wish it where that easy. There will always be those around that speak before they think. In some cases people are genuinely concerned and just don't know how to express themselves well.

Someone said this to me once and it helps with understanding those that are hurtful:

"Hurting people hurt people"

Someone once told me that my right to live my own life stopped where the other person's right to live THEIR own life started.

Basically, you are free to do things that you choose to do, but within the confines of our society mores.

As for people not accepting you, hard as it is to hear, not everyone WILL accept you. And if you are waiting for universal popularity and appeal, you will be waiting for a long, long time.

There are some people who go through life being rude to everyone. You need to ask yourself:

*are they being a jerk to EVERYONE or is it just me?

*will their opinion of me matter in 1 year? In 5 years? In 10 years?

*Will I stop being whom I want to be based upon other people and whether they like me or not?

*Can I make it on my own as my own person without the approval of other people on a consistant basis?

You have the right to decide who you want to be and, within the parameters of our laws and public mores, to live as you choose. Recognize that you may do things that make other people uncomfortable. And unless it is illegal or harmful, that is THEIR problem, not yours.

Stay nice. Be polite. Be willing to see other people's point of view whether you agree with it or not.

Good luck!

choosing your own life is perfectly fine - actually it's great, but the expectation of people excepting is not too much to ask, but you probably won't get it. in this society "normal" is what people have been taught to except..... not an individual with personal values that may differ from others.

Ok, what is the question? You lost me on this one. Not expecting what? I am what? If you figure out what you are trying to say and re-post, I will look you up and try to answer in a nice way. God bless****

Its ok to be yourself, and one day your peers will also be mature enough to find something better to do than tease people who are different
