the american people, who are overwhelmingly against this war, will feel even greater distance between themselves and their govt.

i don't think this will reflect as badly on the dems as it will the repubes, who are now just seen as the blind leading the blind.

nothing this war has done has anything to do with 9/11, the greater war on terror or makes us safer at home...

This authorization gives the president too much power and the vote by Congress was based on bad intelligence. If Congress had been given the CIA's intelligence reports in the first place, many would not have voted to use force in Iraq. The CIA report said they could not find WMD and that there were no proven ties to terrorism.

I believe they want to be able to stop the ongoing escalation of the war. If the resolution was withdrawn, It would then require another vote of Congress to send more of our military there. This time I am sure they would require more input than the say-so of one individual.
