They always know how to take it but not how to give it back.Ring up your tax office and get some advice.I think you might need to wait until after 5th April before you can claim .

now if know the UK government you need to write to the tax office who will send you an application form.
You fill in the form with the specifics.

After about 8 or 9 months they will send you a letter confirming that they agree with your letter in response to their letter saying that you were paying too much money.

You reply to said letter agreeing and asking for the money back.

After a further 6 or months they will send you a letter back agreeing that they owe you the money and you need to fill in attached form to request the money back.

You return attached document.

After another 3 or 4 months they confirm that they have received said document but will not be able to process it until next financial year.

If you completed a tax return you will have advised them how you would want this paid. If so they may have already paid it into your account if not they will send you a bank giro credit with in a few days. I also got a rebate and it was actually in my account before teh letter arived advising me of the amount. They wont wait until April it will just be sent as soon as they get to that one.

You have two options. You can either contact the Inland Revenue yourself forwarding them on your P45's and P60's or you can use a company such as http://www.taxfix.co.uk or www.digitaxuk.com who will get the money back for you. Generally speaing using a company to do it will be quicker and youll probably get more back. At the end of the day it all depends on how much time you have and how much you want to waste dealing with the Inland Revenue.
