What should i do?

I have never had a b/f before, but have met a nice guy in the pub the other week. Saw him again in a club at the weekend and danced with him. However, i feel that he is not really that interested in me, as one minute he seems hot, then lukewarm the next. I did kiss him (not very good i add - but was prob because he was pissed?). Before i went home i told him if he wanted to meet for a drink sometime, to text me, and he coyly replied, "ah, im a busy person, so you'll have to text me".

This has annoyed me, as i really quite like him, but he sounds as if he is not interested + is full of himself. How should i act around him if i see him in the pub again? I don't want to come across as desperate or needy (even though i would like a b/f), plus i am very shy and self-conscious. I like him, but am worried that he will get another better looking girl, and this will make me feel jealous and upset (even though i know i shouldn't be).

Any advice would be much appreciated

to be frank, it sounds like he may not be interested and was attempting to let you down easy.
that said he may have been telling the truth, no way to know unless you text him and ask him out.
again to be honest, not knowing you i bet you could do better. so give him a couple of chances. if he wants to be with you he will make the time to be with you.
by asking him out casually you will not seem desperate or needy especially if you keep it as friends in the texts.
only if he turns up for the date should you reveal your ulterior motive "you want to date him", though that said he may get scared off, or he may turn you down for any number of reasons, such as he may be already in a relationship or married but seperated and he wants to get back with his wife soon. again no way to tell without speaking to him.
the kiss may have put him off if he was not as drunk as you thought he was and remembers the night.
if he was as drunk as you say may be he has no recollection of who you are, so you will have to text or call him to arrange a date.
either way there is no way to know unless you talk it out with him.
be prepared for him to say he is not interested that way what ever he says you will be either over joyed when he agrees to go out with you, and not so disapointed if he does say not interested.
