my 2 yr old german shepard is pregnant but she wont eat her normal food all she wants to eat is puppy food that we feed our 12 week old puppy so my question is do dogs get cravings when they r pregnant or is she just being a naughty girl and trying her luck

She is being a little naughty she wants what the 12 week puppy wants. Just like kids lol.. Feed her the puppy food, it won't hurt her and she will feel she isn't getting what the younger one has.. now for the craving..My female she when she is pregnant she craves ice cubes. I know when she is full puppies when she eats all my ice cubes. I ended up buying a commercial ice machine. She loves that lol...good luck on your puppies. I hope all goes well with the mommy and babies.

Let her eat that if she wants. She will be better off on a high quality pup food whilst pregant. Her energy intake should increase in the third trimester (increase after 6 weeks). This will give her a good start for her pups. Dont increase her energy intake to soon as obesity in pregnancy is the most common cause for dystocia (difficulty giving birth). Let her try her luck she carrying babies. Thats only plus side to being pregnant and no food is not an option.

Actually puppy food is better for her now that she is pregnant than her regular food. It has more protine and calicum and calories in it and it will be good for her developing pups. So put her old food away for a while and just give her the puppy food.
I fed all my mom to be puppy food while they were pregnant, it does their and the developing pups alot of good.!

puppy food is good for her its the best one she can eat but dont worry as there will come a time when she wont want to eat around the last week opr so just before the pups are born she will not wont to eat so you will have to spoil her with nice tit bits as this is normal for them to go of food and puppy food is good for her to eat when she has had the pups i always feed my ***** on puppy food when she has had her pups

like humans the taste buds change druing pregnancy so yes it is kind of a craving but puppy food contains more nutreints and can give adult dogs diahhorea if this happens you will just have to feed them in seperate rooms, your dog will eat her own food if there is nothing else on offer

Actually its better for her to eat the puppy food because it provides her with more nutrients that she needs when she is pregnant.
As far as cravings go, you'll have to ask her what she craves? lol

I think that my cat is pregnant, and I was told that about 12 weeks before she delivers, that I should start giving her kitten chow, so maybe it is the same for dogs. But maybe it is cravings

your dog is only thinking what is best for her children,,???
only a dog would knows...give her what she is eating....this will be good for her.........she knows what is best...
puppy food as all that she needs at the moment...
