It seems that after touring Yahoo!Answers particularly in the religion column, people have differing faiths and all profess it to be the truth.
I wanted to appeal to all and ask you, if there is the right religion, and they come in many names i.e. catholic, anglican, jehovah's witness, protestant, christian, islam, confucianism, hinduism...
Why is there atheism? See it this way, perhaps religion was a personal refuge from the cruelty of the world. Who causes all of this? Humans do. The Church has had a history of blatantly corrupt mind control (Middle Ages and Crusades). We haven't broken free from it. We're still ignorant. We account for the suffering of future generations, and until we can collectively accept that, it's not until then, that the future generation can truly look forward to a much brighter world. We're all humans after all and if it's one thing we should be doing right, it's to love one another.
That is our salvation. We have nothing to fear, but ourselves.

I DON'T WANT MY CO-WORKERS HAVING TO SIFT THROUGH EVERYTHING I SAY WONDERING IF I'M BLOWING SMOKE OR TELLING THE TRUTH. IN THE CASE OF CHRISTIANITY, IT IS BUILT ON TRUTH AND HISTORICAL FACT. JESUS SAID, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE." HIS LIFE, DEATH, RESURRECTION, AND ASCENSION WERE REAL TIME HISTORICAL FACTS WITH EYEWITNESSES AND HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS. JESUS SAID, "YOU SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE." TRUTH IS NOT ONE'S OWN BIAS, OR PERSONAL FEELINGS, TRUTH IS THAT WHICH CORRESPONDS TO REALITY. THE CHRISTIAN'S FAITH IS BASED ON TRUTH AND FACT. SO, THE QUESTION BECOMES, WHICH GOD? THESE RELIGIONS DO NOT ALL SAY THE SAME THING AND ARE DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO ONE ANOTHER. ANY SIMILARITIES ARE ALL SUPERFICIAL AT BEST. CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY ONE BASED ON GRACE BECAUSE GOD HAS COME DOWN AND ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING FOR US. ALL THE OTHERS ARE BASED ON WORKS TRYING TO EARN FAVOR TO APPEASE GOD OR THE GODS. Atheism was first invented by Stalin, who wanted to make himself God, instead of the Russian Orthodox God. He just wanted to glorify himself.
And I agree taht all religion is One, but man has fused it with thier culture so that it is no longer the religion of God, but rather Hinduism or whatever.
the only real religion is the religion of God, and as long as you have God, you do not need any holy books or special buildings or pilgimages. God is enough.
