Wait until your kitten is at least 12 weeks old before you give any baths. However, until then, wipe it with a warm wet washcloth. Make sure you dry it off afterward. Then after 12 weeks, Start by just rinsing him/her with warm water about once a week. Then after about 3 weeks add a gentle shampoo made just for kittens. Always make sure you dry your cat thoroughly after ever bath. Their fur is an insulator and does not dry like a dog.

Go to Wal-Mart. They have Cat Bathing Wipes there. You get 7 heavy duty wipes for only $3. If you get these you don't have to deal with the claws and teeth that come out giving them a bath in the bathtub or sink. All you do is take out one of the wipes and start petting your cat. While you are petting him/her you are also cleaning them. I use these on my 2 kittens and I love it. It leaves them clean and smelling good. Give them a bath once a month. Some cats don't clean themselves good enough and do require a bath.

Most cats hate water. There are several shampoos on the market that are call waterless Pet Shampoo (get at your local pet store or mega mart). Just need a few old towels to rub it on and off with, follow the directions on the bottle. As far as other things for a kitten: a collar, food and water bowls, and a litter box if going to be inside. Kittens love toys as well. Most the pet stores sell some that are rather inexpensive or you can make your own with some old yarn.

DO NOT USE HARTZ PRODUCTS! Or pretty much any of the "grocery store" products for animals. They can easily do more harm than good. Just use baby shampoo or regular shampoo. You can use dawn dish soap too, some people say it works better for fleas, but I'd wait til it was older. I have always used regular shampoo... that's what we used to use at the Humane Society and vets offices that I worked at. you can put a drop of Mineral Oil in it's eyes, no other kind of oil... just Mineral Oil and it will keep the shampoo for burning it's eyes in case you get any on it's face. For other products stick to your vets office or vet supply or even a reliable pet store. As far as clothes... God already supplied it with that nice fur coat! Those round toys with a ball that goes around the edge and a cardboard center for scratching are great for cats. Mine (I have 25) love that toy and the plastic ring off the milk jug and crumpled up cigarette packages! A laser light is great exercise too and they love it just be very careful not to get the light in their face, it will damage their eyes!

I realy believe that after you bath them the best thing to do for them is to put butter or peanut butter on there paws to get them to start regularly bathing themselves. But the rest of the comments about shampoo are correct, and you have caught your kitten at a good age that you might not have too much of a fight, so anyway....that is my suggestion. If you are going to by something I would by something that is all natural and organic so that it is completely safe for the cat when it begins to self bath.

no clothes are necessary for the cat or to bathe one.

in an enclosed, warm room, use warm (not hot) water & tearless baby shampoo (just a drop). a sink with a retractible spray nozzle is best, as you shouldn't immerse the kitty in water. let it stand, but hold it under the chest with one hand while starting behind the ears (don't get water in the ears!) and working to the tail with the water and shampoo. have a towel ready to wrap her in, and if she's not scared of the noise you can blow dry her on low with a hair drier. keep her away from drafts until completely dry.

good things for a kitty to have: a big spillproof water dish, food dishes that are easy to wash, litter box & litter, cat tree or condo--or at least a scratching post, toys (sometimes wadded up paper, or a small old stuffed toy are the best), a collar, and a bed (mine have a tube that's lined in fleece--they play & sleep in it)

First of all, you should never put clothes on a cat. They don't like that. If the kitten is only two months and needs a bath I am to assume it is probably to get rid of some fleas or something. Hartz and Seargents both make good flea shampoo, but for your moneys worth you can't beat a thick coat of dawn dish soap. It is mild so it will not hurt the kitten unless you get a bunch in his eyes, and it will smother and get rid of the fleas. Other than that, cats usually do a pretty good job of keeping themselves clean.

bath your kitty in the sink, your kitty is 2 months, but just to be safe you should use Johnson's and Johnson's baby soap. my sister-in-law gave a flee bath to her kitten and it died because it was too young to have all those chemicals on it's skin. use Luke warm water and hand cloths....... I don't know why you would buy clothes for your cat though, cat's don't like or need clothes. They are not like little dogs.

Cats are well able to keep themself nice and clean without human intervention. I think I've only bathed my cat about 3 times and he is now 11.

As for clothes and so on. At the most they need a collar, nothing else! They have their own fur coat ;)

clothes?? for whom your cat or you??? well on my cat i just fill the kitchen sink up just a little with luke warm water and use regular shampoo(there are cat shampoos) scrub and rinse like you would you hair and make sure you rinse ALL the soap out bc it'll want to lick itself clean. kinda dry it off with a towel first and if you mean clothes for you.....old ones or ones you dont mind getting wet.
warning:kitten may scratch at you and claw, give it a bath every month for a year and it should become okay with water.
