my ex:
-flirts with me and touches me everytime we see each other
- calls me from time to time and sometimes in the middle of the night just to say good night
- gives me goodbye kisses on the cheek or forehead and asks for kisses on the cheek.
- he joking responds in ways such as , "why, you thinking about me?;" "because you miss me?"
- he recently found out another guy likes me, he tells me we should be together and he's happy for me. every time we talk he asks if the other guy has called yet and questions about us.
- when i tried asking him, he wouldn't give me an answer
why does he act like this? he is the one that broke up with me

If he cherishes you as a friend then there's nothing wrong with him being happy for you. Not all relationships live happily ever after but if a friendship can develop on the heals of a break-up it is a rare and wonderful thing. What the future holds for you two nobody knows but if you cherish his friendship and have defined boundaries that you both respect then enjoy it and accept him as he is because he seems to have accepted you as you are.

Okay. From experience i can answer this one. I went out with this guy that i REALLY liked alot. Not love BUT LIKED ALOT!! and we dated for a couple of months. he was the best boyfriend. Well we broke up. he broke upwith me. and we still talk but were just friends and he still acts like that around me. It could be because hes just so used to acting lioke that round you. or maybe he does like u again and is just using the other guy as a cover-up for it. Just get the nerve and ask him. thats what i did. and it was cause he was used to it but u never know. Just try it!

because he is trying to keep you around and interested so you can be his fall back incase him and another girl don't end up working out.
don't loose out on opportunities with someone that will make you happy for the off chance your ex might want you back. you two broke up for a reason.

Maybe he is an affectionate guy.
Maybe he is confused.
In any case, I wouldn't read too much into his behavior.
If he wanted to be with you, you know what he would do?
He would ask you to be just with him.

He sounds immature still. Guys play games...dont let them. He got rid of you, then go ahead and move on.....
It sounds like he is flirting though....he prob does still like you. It must have been a dumb reason to break up.

Because he wants to keep you hanging on. It's like a power trip type thing. "I could get you back if I wanted." If he broke up with you he should give you some damn space. He sounds like an idiot.

he likes you. he asks about you and this other guy because he doesnt want you to be with him, and he is majorly jealous. he wants to be with you, but he doesnt know if its the right time. personaly, if you still have fealings for him, tell him! but if you like this other guy, you should still tell ur ex that you like the other guy. if he says "good for you, im happy for you," then he still likes you FOR SURE. trust me. he wants you to be happy, and he knows that if another guy makes you happy, then he is willing to let you date this other guy

hmm.....he could be jelouse and trying to get you back. Or he might really like you again and not addmit it. Try asking him again. maybe he doesn't even relize what he's doing.
