Okay, i am 16 years old and when I was thirteen I decided I wanted to tone up as well.
First off, i started learning kick boxing as a way of self defense when i was 13, because i live in a really rough neighborhood. BUT, in the end, it totally toned up my butt, legs, and upper arms. So kick boxing worked on all thos things.
In addition to that, every night and morning I do 100 crunches and 100 V-Sits. If you do 100 V-Sits every day, in less than HALF A MONTH, you'll begin to develop a two pack. And onwards from there... So, V-Sits are the savior of all flabby stomachs.
V-Sits:
1. lie down with legs together and arms pressed at sides (just lie down straight...)
2. raise legs and back off floor so you are balancing mostly on your butt, or lower back
3. at this point, your body should be somewhat shaped like an extremely wide V (you should already feel muscle tension in your stomach)
4. with your arms- pump up and down with one arm on either side of your leg (in the air)
Each time you pump your arms upand then down, it counts as one v-sit. So do a 100!
Hope this helps!

If you go to a "big" gym (like 24 hour fitness), I would ask them where the express weight machines are. At 24 hour fitness (and other larger gyms worldwide), there are machines that have different focuses for toning different parts of your body. Since you are a girl, you need to shoot for light weight and many reps to get results. I, for example, do fifteen to twenty reps and two sets of those reps. I go down the express workout row once, then repeat, so I don't get bored.
To tone your abs (which has helped me tons), do these:
1. lay flat on the floor. lift legs up and crunch up so that your fingers touch your toes. Do twenty of these.
2. Lay flat. Put your hands under your booty (palms flat on the floor). Raise your legs up together in a controlled motion. Then back down. Do twenty of these.
3. Sit up in a sit up position, with your legs crossed and off of the floor. The only thing that should touch the floor is your booty. Twist from left to right. A total of fifteen times on each side (thirty total).
Then do it all over again!
Eating right and drinking lots of water will help you see results a lot faster.
Good luck to you! I hope this helps.

I am 14 and I am a boy - hence the avatar.
This is my routine however you may want to increase the amount of reps and decrease the weight for toning. (I aim for strength and size - boys stuff =p)
Do you know any exercise for my shoulders, back and abs?
Currently I do:
3 x 6 bicep curls with heavy weights - slow and controlled
3 x 12 tricep dips
3 x 15 push ups
2 x 10 crunches (with legs bent towards body for more affect - I have been
told)
2 x 12 Elbow to opposite knee (I think this works lower abs)
2 x 10 Leg raises
Then I run for 20 minutes.
I do this about 3 time a week and leave rests in between =-)
I eat healthly and I always have meat everyday for dinner along with 2
glasses of milk. I take omega 3,6,9 tablets and Cod liver oil for my overall
health.
Increase the reps to around 10-12 and do it 3 times. Between each one rest for around a minute so your body can recop. You may want to do a warm up to get the blood pumping to all your muscles to improve results. Eat healthy and stick to the routine and you'll be fine =)
Any other advise needed just email me =D

For someone your age, the best way to tone your body is to do a regular swim work out. I've been doing that for almost 3 years now and the results are wonderful. Overtime you'll develop flat sexy abs and you if you work really hard you'll get a six pack as I have. You've got to work really hard at it though and don't get lacks.
Also you might look into the Pilates Work out program. You can google it and I'm sure you'll find lot of info. You can purchase books and DVDs that tale you step by step through the work outs. I have been doing pilates a bit and it felt so good. They focus on lots of stretches to work on your abs, arms, buttocks etc. I found that it was similer to yoga but with out the meditating.
I also run and walk everyday. I go down to the track by mu house everyday and do about an hour of working out. Thats about six hours a week. Now i'm not sugesting you do that, you can if you want, it's just i'm VERY into working out and keeping my body young and sexy plus I enjoy working out..I love it! Walking, runnning, lifting weights, stretching, etc are all good ways of getting your body into shape. Good luck and have fun!
