Nope, unsupervised phone contact with others often can result in a relapse while in treatment, and may prolong treatment if the person being contacted is the source of or somehow connected to the stress that brought you in to begin with.
We typically go thru every everything and take all contraband-- (cigarettes, cell phone, weapons, belts which can be used for a suicide attempt, etc.) and return it when you leave. Smoking is becoming prohibited in most hospitals due to increased pressure from AMA.

Nope. No electronic devices at all. Unless they are property of the hospital. Who knows if it is a fake and has a knife in it or something? They have a phone, usually, the the patients can use.

No, it's a possible breach of patient confidentiality since so many phones have cameras and whatnot now. You can't use them in the hospital at all.

When I was admitted they took it from me and made me use a pay phone. It cost my parents about $25 a phone call. Ouch !!
When my dad was in with a heart condition, he was able to use his phone and the nurses even answered it for him when he was sleeping.
I guess that in the psych ward they don't want it to be stolen or used for illicit purposes like drug dealing.

No. If you bring it, they will lock in away with your other personal stuff. You can't use it.
PS: You can't use cell phones in any hospital area either.

No, they will lock it up with your stuff. You also can't use one in general in a hospital due to the heart monitors.
