I am a freshman in college and I have had 3 part time jobs. I know that I made under $10000 in the year and I was wondering how to file for taxes! I also moved to a new address so the forms I got from the businesses have my old address on it! How can I file for taxes and would I get any money back? The big question is, when is the best time to file!!

As long as your parents actually supplied over 1/2 of your support, they can claim you as a dependent.

Did you mean under $10000 (like 8900 or 9500), or did you mean under $1000?

The address on your W-2 isn't important. You taxes will be about 10% of the amount over $5150. You will get money back if more than that was withheld. You must file by 4/17. If you are getting money back, file as soon as possible.

You can use form 1040-EZ.

Try this link for e-filing, or download the form from www.irs.gov.

From the info in your question, you are probably still a dependent of your parents.

If all your income is on W-2's, you would file taxes on a 1040EZ. Add up the amounts on your W-2's. Be sure to check the box on line 5 that says you can be claimed as a dependent by someone else. You won't get back everything you paid in, but if you paid in more than you owe in taxes, you'll get the rest back as a refund.

If you have money coming back, the best time to file is as soon as possible, so you get your money sooner.
