I also was wondering how old cats are when they go in heat for the first time?

Ashley is just acting weird, she usually wants to go outside, and she has kind of just been moping around, I think she is pregnant, my husband thinks she isn't, but her nipples are raised and they weren't like that a couple of weeks ago.

Between 5 and 11 months, like humans, there is no set age for maturity. No matter what,(unless she is pregnant), it is time to get her spayed.

The average is about 9 months old. That's calculated on the fact that most cats go into heat between 6 and 12 months old. In extreme cases, some have gone into heat as young as 4 months. If a cat goes into heat just once, her chances of mammary cancer later in life are increased 300%. So it's important to spay before the first heat. For this reason, I always have mine spayed around 4 to 5 months. As long as the kitten is in good health and weighs over 2 pounds, there is no increased risk for the surgery.

they can go into heat as early as 4 months old ususally around 6 months and will cycle repeatdly until they get pregnant (they rest during the winter but start right up early spring), take her to the vet and have him/her diagnose pregnancy. if she is not pregnant spay her as soon as posible, if she is, you can either spay her now and sacrifice the kittens or wait until after the birth to do it, but do it, as fast as you can, there are to many orphan cats that get put to sleep.

I have known kittens as young as 12 weeks to call, it's rare. 16 weeks is far more common and becoming increasingly so, we believe due to environmental factors. Cats under 12 months should not have babies, they're still growing.

anytime after 6 months old. mine was closer to 9 months old when she first went into heat--which was categorized by a lot of meowing, wanting to go outside when she usu. didn't care, and the (neutered) boys paying more attention to her.
