Usually.........
Oil comes from a plant source
while.........
grease comes from an animal source.
Both can be bad if in excess, but, usually the plant source oils are a little and sometimes alot healthier for you overall.
Like Olive or Sesame Oil.
Versus bacon grease.

grease usually refers to a solid and comes from both animal and veg.sources like lard ,shortening or bacon grease.

oil is liquid and comes from only veg. sources like corn, olives, sunflower seeds etc.

if i ever use grease ( very rarely )it ,s bacon fat and i only use it to fry meat or potatoes with..i know alot of old recipes call for lard but i just substitute shortening or sometimes butter in case im making pie crusts or cookies. most modern recipes call for oil now.and i prefer to use canola or olive oils for health reasons.><>

both are fats

Grease implies the oils cast off from foods... while oil implies fat being added to food.

For example, olive oil is added to the pizza dough, but the pepperoni makes the pizza greasy.
