I haven't seen one in person though I believe I have seen a picture of a people carrier. There was also a MASH, that could be tucked in and transported.

Try http://www.ch54skycrane.com/ as a website to take-off from. You could probably find crew that have used the personnel transporter.

The water tanker version seems to be the most active as far as a dedicated role. The others just carry ad-hoc.

I believe it was launched to the planet surface but it only carried two droids.

It is a pod that was designed to move 45 combat ready soldiers by the Skycrane. I think it is very cool that they are using it to rescue people as well.



"A hoist was provided for the CH-54 to allow pickups and deliveries without landing. A lightweight van (universal pod) could be attached to the fuselage for use as a mobile command post, maintenance and repair shop, or as a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH).

The CH-54 also utilized a "people pod" that was designed to carry 45 combat-ready troops."
