...shouldn't she still give birth to an ape? The DNA shouldn't change.
Evolution's mutation mechanism does not explain how growth of a genome is possible. How can point mutations create new chromosomes or lengthen a strand of DNA? It is interesting to note that, in all of the selective breeding in dogs, there has been no change to the basic dog genome. All breeds of dog can still mate with one another. People have not seen any increase in dog's DNA, but have simply selected different genes from the existing dog gene pool to create the different breeds.

Never said that I was a biology major... nor do I want to be and from some of your answers, yes, even the really long ones I see that you werent either.

Thanks Greenio and JB or JP... you guys made the most since... I guess the rest are like the "religous" folk they hate so much... claim something and can't back it up with valid information.

You've just rephrased the chicken and the egg question.
As for giving birth to apes, we are apes.

Ok, where to begin.......
An ape did not just give birth to a human. It happened over countless generations over millions of years. The ancestor probably gave birth to a slightly less hairy ancestor, which in turn mated with another ancestor, and they had another less hairy ancestor.
If you look at the genomes of apes and humans, there are very few differences, in the range of 99.9% of our DNA is identical.
Your dog comparison doesn't have a long enough time period associated with it to truly have species differentiation. In a few million years, if kept separate, the different species of dog would probably lose their ability to create offspring with eachother.
P.S Be careful on your wording, different species can mate with each other, they just don't create offspring.

I... I really want to dropkick you. Or bring a katana to your house.
OK, I shall answer your question and present you with one of my own. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about, I don't know about mutation. I'm only learning basic science right now, blood and the circulatory system, not the crazy mumbo jumbo like biology.
So now, here's my question. You say that mutation is not explainable? OK, then how is Creation explainable? It was explained by nothing more than a book written by men. That's right, men, not God himself. It may be the word of God, but it was still written by men, who could have been drunk, or just playing a joke. So, give me some little proof. Please.

It's fairly easy to lengthen it.
Start to duplicate a strand of DNA. Have two transcriptionase enzymes latch on accidentally. Begin transcribing. The two copies join end to end and are later complimentary-completed by repair enzymes.
You now have two copies of a gene. One is now able to mutate while the other continues to maintain original functioning. This represents an increase in information capacity.

I wonder why you don't just learn a little about DNA and evolution, and then you will realize how trivial your question really is. Is it that you are too lazy to do so, or do you have an agenda. In other words, are you a religious person with a predetermined antipathy to evolution, and this is your seemingly powerful example against evolution? Which is it?

Why don't you go to the library and pick up a biology textbook, and maybe you'll learn how asinine that question is. I normally say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but the astonishingly uniform barrage of vacuous inanity that comes from anti-evolutionists has me wondering.
Then again, that you'd ask a question about biology in the religion & spirituality forum also has me wondering about your ability to think clearly.

Apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor. Over time, the species evolved so much that they no longer were able to mate with each other.

Because chromosome numbers can change as fibers pulling apart chromosomes in cells can break during meiosis (cell division) increasing or decreasing the chromosome number. Evolution = observed scientific fact god = unfounded Bronze Age myth. Say no to jesus

Humans are classified as apes- they belong to the anthropoid ape family. If DNA didn't change you and everyone else would be dead because our bodies wouldn't have the ability to fight illness.
