I have heard of 3 types of Catholics over the years - Roman, Anglecian and Byzantine. Are there any other types? Also, what are the differences between them? Do their RICA classes differ much? For that matter, are there any Byzantines left?

There are Churches which are in union with the Roman Catholic Church but are distinct in themselves. They are not Roman Catholic but are in communion with the Pope. This means that Roman Catholics may receive Holy Communion at their worship services and they at the Roman Catholic Mass. They are: Armenian, Byzantine, Coptic, Ethiopian, East Syrian (Chaldean), West Syrian and Maronite

At one time there was one Christian church. The Roman Catholic Church refers to the Western church. It is the church that most catholics follow. The Papacy is in Rome hence the name Roman catholic.

The Byzantine church is the Eastern church and split from the main church during the Crusades causing a schism which means they practice and they believe in the same things but the Byzantine church no longer saw the Pope as authority. It's authority would come from the Patriachs in the city of Constantinople. There are many Byzantine catholics.

Anglecian would be a protestant sect in England where it was founded starting with King Henry VIII.

I have been in Marionite churches in the US

It goes far further than that. The word "catholic" means "according to the whole" KATH = "according to" HOLOS or HOLON = "the whole"

Since the Creeds know of only ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC Church - and it cannot be divided (denominations are man-made - there is One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism) - all Baptized Christians are essentially "Catholic".

Only Rome has RCIA. There are many Byzantine (Eastern) Uniate Rite catholics.
